The Story of Pandora Hearts
Oz's Journey Begins
Oz Vessalius is the heir to a powerful family. He lives a fancy life with his younger sister Ada and his best friend, Gilbert. One day, during his Coming-of-Age Ceremony, a group called the Baskervilles appears. They claim Oz has committed a "sin" and throw him into the Abyss. Oz doesn't understand why this is happening, but he wants to find out the truth.
Inside the Abyss, Oz meets a powerful Chain named Alice, also known as the Bloody Black Rabbit. Oz makes a deal with Alice to escape the Abyss. When they finally get out, they discover that ten years have passed in the real world!
Unraveling the Mystery
Oz is taken in by Sharon Rainsworth and her servant, Xerxes Break. They are part of an organization called Pandora. Pandora studies Chains and was created after a terrible event called the Tragedy of Sablier, where an entire city fell into the Abyss. Oz decides to help Pandora investigate the ruler of the Abyss, known as the Intention of the Abyss.
Oz gets help from Alice and an older Gilbert, who is now part of another powerful family. They learn that Alice, Gilbert, and Gilbert's younger brother Vincent were involved in the Tragedy of Sablier. They also meet the spirit of Jack Vessalius, a hero from the past who supposedly stopped the world from falling into the Abyss. Jack's spirit is somehow connected to Oz.
The Truth Revealed
As they investigate, more secrets come to light. Break reveals he met the Intention of the Abyss, who is Alice's twin sister. They also learn that Jack Vessalius, the supposed hero, might have been the one who caused the Tragedy of Sablier! It turns out Jack wanted to merge the world with the Abyss to be with someone he cared about.
Oz discovers a shocking truth about himself: he is actually the real B-Rabbit, a powerful Chain. He was once a doll that belonged to Alice's mother, Lacie, and was given life by the Core of the Abyss. During the Tragedy of Sablier, Oz became a Chain that could destroy the world.
A New Future
Oz and his friends decide they must stop Jack from changing the past and prevent the world from falling into the Abyss. They plan to destroy the Intention of the Abyss's body. During their difficult journey, Oz's uncle Oscar and Break pass away.
Oz and Alice travel back in time to the Tragedy of Sablier. Alice tries to convince the Core of the Abyss to separate from her twin sister. Oz tries to convince Oswald, the previous Glen Baskerville, to help them stop Jack instead of changing the past.
In the end, Oswald cannot bring himself to harm his sister and passes on. Oz and his friends manage to convince the Core of the Abyss to cut ties with the Intention of the Abyss, which helps restore the world to normal. Oz and Alice pass away, but Gilbert promises to wait for them to be reborn.
About a hundred years later, Oz and Alice are reborn. Vincent brings them to Gilbert, who is overjoyed to see them again. Gilbert welcomes them back, finally finding peace after a long wait. Pandora is disbanded, and the Baskervilles form a new connection with the Core of the Abyss.
