Paolo Poli (born May 23, 1929 – died March 25, 2016) was a famous Italian actor. He was best known for his amazing work in theatre. He also acted in movies and on television.

A Star on Stage
Paolo Poli started his acting journey in the early 1950s. Before that, he studied French literature at university. He was one of the first actors in Italy to perform en travesti. This means he played roles dressed in clothes usually worn by the opposite gender. He was considered one of Italy's most talented and flexible theatre actors.
Paolo Poli acted in and directed many shows, including funny musical plays called operettas. Some of his well-known shows were Aldino mi cali un filino, Rita of Cascia, and Gulliver's Travels. His show Rita of Cascia even caused some discussion and attention from the Italian president at the time, Oscar Luigi Scalfaro.
Even when he was in his eighties, Paolo Poli continued to perform on stage. He loved acting and kept entertaining audiences with shows like Sillabari and Aquiloni.
