Paracas is a small, lively port town in the Ica Region of Peru. It is the main town of the Paracas District. With a population of about 4,146 people, it's a popular spot for tourists.
Paracas is a great starting point for exciting trips. From here, you can visit the amazing Islas Ballestas (Ballestas Islands) and explore the Paracas National Reserve.
The town gets its name, "Paracas," from the Quechua words para (rain) and aco (sand). This is because it's a very windy area where strong winds often carry sand.
