What is Paratriathlon?
Paratriathlon is a race that combines three sports: swimming, cycling, and running. Athletes compete in a "sprint" distance, which means they swim 750 meters, cycle 20 kilometers, and then run 5 kilometers.
The sport is managed by the International Triathlon Union (ITU). Athletes are grouped into different categories based on their physical abilities. This makes sure the competition is fair for everyone. For example, some athletes might have helpers during the changeovers between sports, while others who are visually impaired race with a sighted guide who helps them throughout the event.
