Pargua is a small village located in the Los Lagos Region of Chile. It's part of the Calbuco area. This village sits on the northeast side of the Chacao Channel, which is a narrow stretch of water.
Pargua is an important place because it's on Route 5, a major highway in Chile. From Pargua, a ferry boat connects the mainland to Chiloé Island. This ferry takes people and cars across the channel to the village of Chacao on the island.
There are plans to build a big bridge called the Chacao Channel bridge across the channel. This bridge would connect the mainland directly to Chiloé Island, replacing the ferry service.
