History of Paris

The first person to settle in Paris was Seth B. Myrick. He arrived on July 10, 1837, from a place called Paris, New York. Because he was the first, he got to name the new community. He decided to name it Paris, just like his old home.

A local church, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, celebrated its 150th birthday in 2009. This shows how long the community has been around.
