Paris Peace Treaties, 1947 facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Paris Peace Conference was a big meeting held from July 29 to October 15, 1946. It led to the Paris Peace Treaties, which were signed on February 10, 1947.

These treaties were very important after World War II. The countries that won the war, like the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and the Soviet Union, talked about and agreed on the details of peace with five countries that had been on the losing side. These countries were Italy, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Finland.

The main goal of these treaties was to help Italy, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Finland become normal, independent countries again. This meant they could take part in international affairs and even join the United Nations.
