Early Life and Comedy Debut
Park Ji-sun was born in Bupyeong District, Incheon, South Korea. She attended Korea University before deciding to become a comedian. Her journey into comedy began in 2007.
She joined the 22nd group of comedians recruited by the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS). Park Ji-sun first appeared on the popular comedy show Gag Concert. Her segment, "Gag Warrior 300," quickly made her famous. In her debut year, she won the Newcomer Award at the KBS Entertainment Awards. This showed how talented she was right from the start.
Health Challenges and Later Life
Park Ji-sun lived with a chronic skin condition. She also had a rare sunlight allergy. This meant her skin would react badly to sunlight. Despite these challenges, she continued to work and entertain.
In October 2020, she shared that she was getting treatment for a medical condition. She planned to have surgery and focus on getting better in November.
Her Passing and Legacy
Park Ji-sun passed away on November 2, 2020, at the age of 35. Her father became worried when he could not reach her or her mother. Police found Park Ji-sun and her mother at Park's home in Seoul. A note was found, believed to be written by Park's mother. The family asked for the note's contents to remain private. They also requested that no autopsy be performed. News reports mentioned the note expressed her mother's wish not to let her daughter suffer alone due to her illness.
Park Ji-sun's funeral service was held on November 5, 2020. She and her mother were laid to rest at Incheon Family Park. Park Ji-sun is remembered for her bright personality and for bringing joy to many through her comedy.
