About Park Place: A Cool Building

Park Place is found at the corner of Burrard Street and Dunsmuir Street. It's right across from the Burrard SkyTrain station, which is super handy for people who work there.

Even though the building itself only takes up 35% of its land, it's huge inside! With about 64,856 square meters (698,100 square feet) of space, it's the biggest office building in all of British Columbia. The rest of the land around the building is a lovely green space. It has pretty water features and even a small outdoor stage called an amphitheatre.

Building Style and Design

The building's design is called Postmodern. This style often mixes old and new ideas in a fun way. Park Place has a pink granite (a type of stone) outside. It also has windows that look like copper and match the stone.

Park Place looks a lot like another famous building, Brookfield Place in New York City. Both buildings were built around the same time.

The Number 666

This building is interesting because its address is 666. In some parts of North America, this number can have a negative meaning. However, in Chinese culture, the number 666 is actually thought to be one of the luckiest numbers!

The people who decided on the address likely knew about Vancouver's large population of Chinese Canadians. They also knew about the city's strong connections to China, especially Hong Kong. This probably influenced their choice of address.
