Original Name: Hazel Dell
The community was first known as Hazel Dell. This name was given when the area was officially mapped out, or platted, in 1876.
Post Office and Name Change
Later, a post office was opened in the community. This post office operated under the name Parkdale. It served the area from 1877 until 1893. This is how the community eventually became known as Parkdale.
