Parrish Jason Casebier, born on July 18, 1972, is a former American basketball player. He is well-known for his amazing college basketball career at the University of Evansville. In 1992, he was even named the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Player of the Year.
Parrish Casebier's Early Life and College Basketball
Parrish Casebier was born in Owensboro, Kentucky. When he was two years old, he was adopted and moved to Rockport, Indiana. He went to South Spencer High School.
After high school, Parrish decided to play college basketball at Evansville. He played there from 1990 to 1993 under coach Jim Crews. Even though he was a bit shorter for a power forward at 6 feet 4 inches, Parrish was very strong and energetic. This helped him succeed on the court.
He was a starter for three years at Evansville. During his time there, he scored a total of 1,535 points. This means he averaged about 20.2 points in each game. As a freshman, he made the Midwestern City Conference (now called the Horizon League) All-Newcomer team. He was also first-team all-conference during his junior and senior years.
Parrish's best season was in 1991–92, when he was a sophomore. He averaged 24.4 points per game. He helped the Purple Aces win both the regular-season and tournament championships. Because of his great play, he was named MCC Player of the Year.
Parrish Casebier's Professional Basketball Journey
After his junior year, Parrish Casebier decided to enter the 1993 NBA draft. Even though he was considered a bit small for his position, he hoped to play in the NBA. He was not chosen in the draft, but he was invited to the Philadelphia 76ers training camp.
However, he never played in the NBA. Instead, he played basketball professionally in other countries. He played in Argentina, England, Turkey, and Venezuela. He also played minor league basketball in Lincoln, Nebraska. He played for the Lincoln Thunder team in the American Basketball Association.
