Parrish Jason Casebier (born July 18, 1972) is an American former basketball player. He is known for his excellent college career at the University of Evansville. In 1992, he was named the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Player of the Year.
Early Life and College Basketball
Casebier was born in Owensboro, Kentucky. When he was two years old, he was adopted and moved to Rockport, Indiana. He went to South Spencer High School.
He decided to play college basketball at Evansville. He played there from 1990 to 1993 for coach Jim Crews. Casebier played as a power forward. Even though he was 6 feet 4 inches tall, which is a bit short for a power forward, he was very strong and energetic. This helped him succeed on the court.
He was a starter for three years at Evansville. During his college career, he scored a total of 1,535 points. This means he averaged 20.2 points per game (PPG). As a freshman, he made the Midwestern Collegiate Conference (now called the Horizon League) All-Newcomer team. He was also named first-team all-conference in his junior and senior years.
His best season was in 1991–92, when he was a sophomore. He averaged 24.4 points per game that season. He helped his team, the Purple Aces, win both the regular-season and tournament championships. Because of his great performance, he was named the MCC Player of the Year.
Professional Basketball Career
After his junior year, Casebier decided to enter the 1993 NBA draft. He was considered a bit small for his position, so he was not chosen by any team in the draft. However, he was invited to the training camp for the Philadelphia 76ers. He never played in the NBA.
Instead, he played basketball in other countries. He played professionally in Argentina, England, Turkey, and Venezuela. He also played in a minor league in the United States. He played for the Lincoln Thunder in Lincoln, Nebraska. This team was part of the American Basketball Association.
