Parshley is a small, unincorporated community located in the southern part of Jasper County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An unincorporated community means it's a named place, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.

Parshley is easy to find on a map! It sits just south of Interstate 44, which is a major highway. You'll find it located between two other towns in Missouri: Sarcoxie and Joplin. The border between Jasper County and Newton County is also very close, about one mile south of the community.

History of Parshley

Parshley has a short but interesting history. A post office, which is where people send and receive mail, was opened in Parshley in 1890. It served the community for about 11 years before closing in 1901. The community itself was named after a local merchant. A merchant is someone who owned a store or business in the area. Naming places after important local people was a common way for small communities to get their names back then!
