Paso Canoas is a special city that is shared by two countries: Costa Rica and Panama. It sits right on the border between the Puntarenas Province in Costa Rica and the Chiriquí Province in western Panama. This means that part of the city is in Costa Rica, and the other part is in Panama!
On the Costa Rican side, Paso Canoas is located in the Canoas area. This district is part of the Corredores region in the Puntarenas Province. This area is in the southern part of Costa Rica.
On the Panamanian side, Paso Canoas belongs to the corregimiento of Progreso. This is part of the Barú District.
Because Paso Canoas is right on the border, buying and selling goods (called trade) is very important for the people who live there. It's a busy place where people from both countries meet and do business.
