Patina Renea Miller (born November 6, 1984) is an American actress and singer. She is famous for her powerful voice and amazing acting skills.
Patina became well-known for playing Deloris Van Cartier in the musical Sister Act. She performed this role in London's West End in 2009 and on Broadway in 2011. For her work, she received nominations for the Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony Award.
She also won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as the Leading Player in the 2013 Broadway show Pippin. Later, she returned to Broadway in 2022 to star as the Witch in Into the Woods.

Early Life and Education
Patina Miller was born in Pageland, South Carolina. She grew up in a home with just one parent. From a young age, she loved music and sang in her church's gospel choir.
She attended the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts & Humanities. In 2006, she earned a degree in musical theatre from Carnegie Mellon University. Patina has said that her time at Carnegie Mellon was very important. She felt it helped her realize her dream of becoming a performer.
Patina Miller's Career Journey
In 2005, Patina was one of three finalists for the role of Effie White in the movie Dreamgirls. The role eventually went to Jennifer Hudson. In 2007, Patina appeared in 30 episodes of the TV show All My Children.
She performed in a Central Park production of Hair in 2008. She also appeared in the musical Romantic Poetry in New York City.
Starring in Sister Act
Patina Miller was chosen for the main role of Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act. She had been an understudy for this role in the U.S. for six months. The London show opened in 2009. Critics praised Patina's performance. They noted her "terrific voice" and "powerhouse vocals."
For this role, she won the whatsonstage.com Theatregoers Choice Award. She was also nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She stayed with the London production until it closed in 2010.
Patina then brought her role as Deloris Van Cartier to Broadway. The show started in March 2011. This was her Broadway debut. She received a Theatre World Award for her performance. She was also nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Patina left the Broadway show in March 2012.
Winning a Tony for Pippin
From December 2012 to January 2013, Patina performed as the Leading Player in Pippin. She then reprised this role in the Broadway revival of Pippin. The show opened in April 2013.
For her amazing work in Pippin, Patina won the Outer Critics Circle Award. She also won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical at the 67th Tony Awards. This was a huge achievement in her career.

Patina Miller's Personal Life
On June 14, 2014, Patina Miller married David Mars in New York City. David Mars is a venture capitalist. Patina's mother, Robin Burch, who is a Baptist minister, led the wedding ceremony.
Their daughter, Emerson Harper, was born on August 9, 2017, in New York City.
In 2023, Patina sang the U.S. National Anthem at the start of the 2023 New York City Marathon. She then ran and finished the marathon in four hours.
