Patmos Peak is a mountain peak in Antarctica. It stands 1,900 meters (about 6,234 feet) tall. You can find it in the southern part of the Bastien Range, which is part of the Ellsworth Mountains.
This peak has steep slopes on its east and south sides. These slopes are partly free of ice. Patmos Peak rises above the Nimitz Glacier and its smaller branch, the Karasura Glacier, to the northeast. To the southwest, it overlooks the upper part of the Minnesota Glacier.
Where is Patmos Peak Located?
Patmos Peak is located at coordinates 78°49′14.3″S 85°55′11″W / 78.820639°S 85.91972°W. It is about 4.66 kilometers (2.9 miles) northwest of Bergison Peak. It is also about 9.6 kilometers (6 miles) south of Mount Fisek.
This area was mapped by the United States in 1961 and again in 1988.
How Did Patmos Peak Get Its Name?
The peak is named after a very old fortress called Patmos. This fortress is located in Southern Bulgaria.
