Patrick Boyle (born April 11, 1905 – died February 7, 1982) was an important Irish writer. He was known for his short stories and novels, which often explored life in Ireland.

Early Life and Work

Patrick Boyle was born in 1905 in a place called Ballymoney, which is in County Antrim. When he grew up, he worked for the Ulster Bank. His job took him to different parts of Ireland, including Donegal and Wexford.

Becoming a Writer

It wasn't until he was in his forties that Patrick Boyle started writing seriously. This shows that it's never too late to discover a new passion! He quickly became known for his unique style.

His Books

Patrick Boyle published his first collection of short stories in 1966. It was called At Night All Cats are Grey. In the same year, he also released a novel titled Like Any Other Man.

He continued to write more stories. Two more collections followed these first books. All Looks Yellow to the Jaundiced Eye came out in 1969. Later, in 1976, he published A View from Calvary. His writing earned him a place as a member of the Irish Academy of Letters, which is a group that honors important Irish writers.

Patrick Boyle passed away in 1982. His books are still read and enjoyed today.
