About Patrick Bruel
Early Life and Dreams
Patrick Bruel was born in Tlemcen, French Algeria. His parents are Pierre Benguigui and Augusta Kammoun. When he was young, Patrick lived in Argenteuil, France. His mother worked as a teacher there.
As a kid, Patrick dreamed of becoming a football player. But in 1975, he saw a concert by the singer Michel Sardou. This inspired him to become a singer instead!
Acting and Music Career
Patrick Bruel's first big success was in acting. In 1979, he starred in a movie called Le Coup de sirocco. He kept acting in movies, on TV, and in plays. At the same time, he worked on his singing career.
His first song, "Vide" ("Empty"), came out in 1982. It wasn't a big hit. But his next song, "Marre de cette nana-là" ("Fed up with that chick"), became very popular.
In 2003, Patrick changed his name to Bruel-Benguigui. He combined his stage name with his birth name. This was just before his first son, Oscar, was born in August 2003. He later had a second son, Léon, in 2005.
By 2004, Bruel had acted in over 40 TV shows and movies. He also released five studio albums and several live albums. In 2002, he released Entre Deux. This album had two CDs of classic French songs. He sang duets with other famous artists like Charles Aznavour and Jean-Jacques Goldman. This album sold two million copies! It made Patrick Bruel the highest-paid singer in France that year.
In 2005, after a big tsunami hit South Asia, Bruel wrote a song called "Et puis la terre." He wrote it to help the Red Cross. His album "Des souvenirs devant" was his fourth album to reach number one in France.
