She was the daughter of Robert II of Scotland, who was the King of Scotland. This means Patrick Lyon had a connection to the royal family.

Serving the King

Patrick Lyon played a big part in Scottish history. When he was younger, he was held as a hostage in England. This happened from 1424 until 1427. He was held to help make sure that King James I would return safely to Scotland. Being a hostage meant he was a kind of guarantee for the king.

Later, Patrick Lyon held many important jobs for King James II.

  • From 1450 to 1451, he was one of the Lords Auditors. These were important people who helped the king with legal and financial matters.
  • From 1450 to 1452, he was the Master of the King's Household. This meant he was in charge of the royal palace and the people who worked there.
  • He also served as an Ambassador to England in 1451 and again in 1455. An ambassador is someone who represents their country in another country.
  • From 1456 to 1459, he was the Keeper of several important castles, including Kildrummy, Kindrocht, and Balveny. This job meant he was responsible for keeping these castles safe.

Marriage and Children
