Patrick James Teehan (born April 14, 1904 – died December 25, 1985) was an important Irish politician. He was a member of the Fianna Fáil political party. He worked as an auctioneer and a farmer before becoming involved in politics.
Patrick Teehan served in two parts of the Irish parliament: the Seanad Éireann (which is like a Senate) and the Dáil Éireann (which is like a main assembly). He was a Senator for the Administrative Panel from 1951 to 1960 and again from 1965 to 1969. He also served as a Teachta Dála (TD), which is a member of Dáil Éireann, for the Carlow–Kilkenny area from 1960 to 1961.

Patrick Teehan's Political Journey
Patrick Teehan was born in St Mullin's, a place in County Carlow, Ireland. He later became known for his work in politics.
Becoming a Senator
Patrick Teehan was first chosen to be a Senator in Seanad Éireann in 1951. Senators are elected to represent different groups or interests in Ireland. He was re-elected to this role two more times, in 1954 and 1957, showing that people trusted him to represent them.
Serving in Dáil Éireann
In 1960, a special election called a by-election was held in the Carlow–Kilkenny area. This happened because the previous TD, Joseph Hughes, had passed away. Patrick Teehan ran in this by-election as a candidate for the Fianna Fáil party and won! This meant he became a Teachta Dála (TD) in Dáil Éireann, which is where the main laws are made in Ireland.
However, he only served as a TD for a short time. In the next big election, called the 1961 general election, he lost his seat in Dáil Éireann.
Returning to the Seanad
Even though he lost his Dáil seat, Patrick Teehan continued his political career. He was elected back into the Seanad Éireann in 1965, again representing the Administrative Panel. He served as a Senator for another four years. In 1969, he ran for re-election to the Seanad but did not win his seat back. He passed away on December 25, 1985, in Waterford, Ireland.
