Early Leadership Roles
Patrizia Busignani was very active in politics. From 1983 to 1990, she was the President of the Unitary Socialist Party. This meant she was the main leader of that political group.
Leading Parliamentary Groups
After that, she became the Chief of the Parliamentary Group of Socialists for Reforms. This group worked within the government. Later, she led the Partito dei Democratici (Party of Democrats). From 2007 to 2009, she was also the leader of the Partito dei Socialisti e dei Democratici (Party of Socialists and Democrats).
