Early Life and Theatre Work
Patti Clare grew up in Manchester. Before she became famous on television, she gained a lot of experience acting in plays. She performed in many theatre productions. For example, in 2000, she played Edith in a play called Blithe Spirit in Glasgow. Later, in 2005, she took on the role of Mrs. Micawber in a play based on David Copperfield.
After working a lot in theatre, Patti wanted to try acting on television. She was advised that to achieve this, she should temporarily stop taking theatre roles.
Joining Coronation Street
In September 2008, while working as a receptionist, Patti Clare got a big opportunity. She was offered the part of Mary Taylor in the TV show Coronation Street. Her first appearance on the show was on November 26, 2008. The character of Mary was originally only planned to be in five episodes.
However, Mary Taylor became very popular. After her first short time on the show, Patti was offered a new contract. She returned to Coronation Street in January 2010 and has been a regular part of the cast ever since.

Before and during her time as Mary Taylor, Patti Clare also appeared in other television shows. She had small roles in the children's fantasy series Young Dracula.
