Paul Kaba Thieba was born on July 28, 1960. He is an economist and politician from Burkina Faso, a country in West Africa. He served as the Prime Minister of Burkina Faso from January 6, 2016, to January 18, 2019. The President, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, chose him for this important role. Before becoming Prime Minister, Thieba worked for major banks in West Africa.

Early Life and Learning
Paul Kaba Thieba was born in a city called Bobo-Dioulasso in what was then known as Upper Volta. This country is now called Burkina Faso.
He finished high school in Ouagadougou in June 1979. He then went on to study at the University of Ouagadougou, where he earned a business degree in 1982 and a master's degree in 1983. He continued his studies in France, getting advanced degrees from the Pierre Mendès-France University and the Paris Descartes University. He specialized in banking and finance.
His Career Journey
Paul Kaba Thieba had a long career in finance before becoming Prime Minister. In September 1998, he started working at the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO). This bank helps manage money for several West African countries. He was in charge of foreign exchange, which means dealing with different types of money from other countries.
He held various important positions at the BCEAO, including assistant director and then director of financial operations. From 2009 to 2011, he was an advisor in the General Affairs Department. Later, he became an advisor to the Chief Operating Officer.
In February 2014, he became the managing director of the Financial Stability Fund for the West African Monetary Union. This fund helps keep the money system stable in West African countries. He held this job until he was chosen to lead the government in January 2016.
Becoming Prime Minister
On January 6, 2016, President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré appointed Paul Kaba Thieba as the Prime Minister of Burkina Faso. The Prime Minister is like the head of the government, helping the President run the country. This appointment happened shortly after President Kaboré took office.
One of his first big challenges as Prime Minister came on January 15, 2016. An attack happened at a hotel in Ouagadougou, the capital city. Security forces quickly responded to the situation. Many people were safely rescued, but sadly, some lives were lost.
In February 2017, there was a change in the government's team, known as a cabinet reshuffle. The number of ministers working with Prime Minister Thieba increased slightly, from 29 to 32.
On January 18, 2019, Paul Kaba Thieba and all the ministers in his government resigned from their positions. President Kaboré announced this news on television. The reason for their resignation was not publicly shared.
