Paul Loridant (born April 22, 1948 – died December 22, 2020) was an important French politician. He was a member of a political group called the Citizen and Republican Movement. He held several key positions. These included serving as a Senator for Essonne, a General Councillor for the Canton of Les Ulis, and the Mayor of Les Ulis.

About Paul Loridant
Paul Loridant was born on April 22, 1948, in a town called Ille-sur-Têt, France. He studied economics at the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne. He also graduated from Sciences Po, which is a famous school in France.
After his studies, he worked at the Bank of France as a Deputy Director. Later in his life, after his political career, he became an advisor. He also worked as a mediator for a French banking group.
His Time as a Senator
Paul Loridant became a Senator in 1986. He was one of the youngest Senators at that time. He was re-elected in 1995.
As a Senator, he worked on important committees. These included the Committee of Cultural Affairs and the Finance Committee. He also helped lead a group that focused on the relationship between France and Ireland. He stopped being a Senator in 2004. After that, he was given the title of honorary Senator.
Political Parties and Roles
Paul Loridant first joined the Socialist Party. He became an important leader for the party in the Essonne area. In 1993, he joined a different political group, the Citizen and Republican Movement.
He supported Ségolène Royal in the 2007 French presidential election. This was an important election for France's president.
Local Government Work
Besides being a Senator, Loridant was also a General Councillor for the Canton of Les Ulis. He was the head of the socialist group in the Departmental Council of Essonne. He served in this role until 1988.
He was elected Mayor of Les Ulis in 1977. He was very popular and was re-elected four more times. He served as Mayor until 2008. After that, he continued to serve his community as a municipal councillor until 2014.
Paul Loridant also held other important positions. He was Vice-President of a group that managed water systems in a valley. He was also part of boards that looked after social security and payment card safety.
Paul Loridant passed away on December 22, 2020, in Villejuif, at the age of 72.
