Paul Angelo Winn is a Canadian human rights activist and a former lawyer. He has worked to make Canada a fairer place for everyone.

Paul Winn was a director and interim Chief of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation. This organization is a special Canadian government group, called a crown corporation, that works to stop racism in Canada. Its goal is to build a plan to fight against racism across the country. Mr. Winn was also the past president of the Black Historical and Cultural Society of British Columbia. This group helps to share the history and culture of Black people in British Columbia.

A Pioneer in Canadian Television

In the 1980s, Paul Winn wrote and hosted a weekly TV show on CBC Television called The Canadians. This program explored the many different cultural communities living in Canada. It was a big step forward because Mr. Winn was the first person from a visible minority group to host a national television program in Canada. This helped show the diversity of Canadian society on TV.

Working for Fairness in Government

Mr. Winn was also active in the Anti-discrimination directorate of the Canadian government during the 1980s and 1990s. This part of the government worked to prevent unfair treatment of people. After this, he went to the University of British Columbia to study law. In 2000, he was chosen by the Heritage Minister, Sheila Copps, to join the board of directors for the Canadian Race Relations Foundation again.
