About Paula Taylor
Her Early Life
Paula Taylor was born in Bangkok, Thailand. Just two weeks after she was born, her family moved to Australia. Her mother is from Thai Chinese background, and her father is English. Paula grew up in Perth, Western Australia. When she was nine, her parents separated, and she moved to Brisbane, Queensland. Later, she earned a degree in Business Administration from Assumption University.
Starting Her Career
While visiting her family in Thailand, Paula was asked if she wanted to try modeling. This is how her career began! She started by appearing in commercials and small Thai movies. Soon, she became a regular VJ (which means a video jockey, someone who hosts music video shows) for Channel V Thailand. A TV producer named Tanawat Wansom discovered her, and she quickly became very popular. She was soon a highly requested TV host and presenter. In 2006, she acted in a Thai romantic comedy movie called The Memory.
Competing in The Amazing Race Asia
Paula also took part in The Amazing Race Asia 2 with her friend Natasha Monks. This is a reality TV show where teams race around the world. In one part of the race, they came in last, but luckily, it was a "non-elimination" round, meaning they didn't have to leave the show. However, in the next part of the race in Hungary, they finished last again. This time, they were the sixth team to be eliminated from the competition. They ended up finishing in 5th place overall.
Later, Paula appeared on Amazing Race Asia 3. She was a special guest alongside the host, Allan Wu, at the finish line of the first part of that race.
What Paula is Doing Now
Paula made her first appearance in a Hollywood movie in 2011. It was called Hellgate, and she starred alongside actors like William Hurt and Cary Elwes. Because she was on The Amazing Race Asia, many people in Southeast Asian countries recognized her face and name. In 2009, she got a main role in a movie with Filipino comedian Vic Sotto called Love On Line. In this movie, she played a version of herself. She also appeared as a guest host on Eat Bulaga!, which is a popular TV show where Vic Sotto is a regular host.
Paula now lives in Thailand with her three children. She is focusing on raising them, but she still travels around Asia for commercials and to appear as a guest on TV shows. She recently returned to acting after 10 years, starring as Stella in Taklee Genesis. Stella is a Thai American single mom in this movie, which is the first Thai-Warner Bros. joint science-fiction film. It was directed by Chookiat Sakveerakul.
