Paule Baillargeon grew up and went to school in Quebec. She studied at the Ursuline Convent in Quebec City. She also attended the École Sophie-Barat in Montreal. In 1969, she left the National Theatre School of Canada. She then helped start an experimental theatre group. It was called Le Grand Cirque Ordinaire.
For several years, she helped write and perform in the group's shows. These shows had a big impact on theatre in Quebec. A documentary film was made about their first performance. It was called The Great Ordinary Movie and came out in 1971. The group later made another film, Montreal Blues.
Directing Career
Paule Baillargeon has directed many films and documentaries. In 1980, she co-directed the film La Cuisine rouge. This movie explored how people are sometimes unfairly judged based on their gender.
