Paulig is a Finnish company that makes food and drinks. It's a family-run business that started way back in 1876. Some of their well-known brands are Paulig, Santa Maria, Risenta, and Poco Loco. Paulig has about 2,000 employees working in 13 different countries. In 2019, the company made around 921 million euros in sales.
How Paulig Started
The story of Paulig began in 1876. A man named Gustav Paulig, who was from Germany, started a new company in Helsinki, Finland. Gustav had moved to Finland from a German city called Lübeck in 1871.
At that time, Finland was changing a lot. These changes created many chances for new businesses to grow. Paulig's company first imported things like salt, coffee, spices, flour, port wine, and cognac.
For the first few decades, Paulig's main office was in Helsinki. After Gustav Paulig passed away in 1907, his wife, Bertha Paulig, took charge of the company.
Gustav and Bertha's son, Eduard Paulig, became the head of the company from 1919 to 1947. During his time, Paulig grew into a very important company in Finland.
In October 2011, Paulig launched the Cupsolo capsule machine. This machine can make many of Paulig's popular coffees, like Juhla Mokka and Presidentti. It can also make Tazza cocoa, tea, and special coffees like cappuccino.
In September 2016, Paulig bought a company called Gold & Green Foods. This helped them sell products that are alternatives to meat.
Paulig Around the World
After the Baltic states (like Estonia) became independent from the Soviet Union in 1991, Paulig started working with other businesses there. Paulig began its operations in Saue, Estonia, in 1993. This was a step towards becoming a more international company.
