Paulig's Story

The Paulig story began in 1876. A man named Gustav Paulig [fi] started the company in Helsinki, the capital city of Finland. Gustav had moved to Finland from Lübeck, Germany, a few years earlier in 1871.

Finland was changing a lot at that time. These changes created many new chances for businesses. Gustav Paulig saw these opportunities. He started by bringing in different products. These included salt, coffee, spices, and flours. He also imported drinks like port wine and cognac.

For many years, Paulig's main office was in Helsinki. After Gustav Paulig passed away in 1907, his wife, Bertha Paulig [fi], took charge of the company. She made sure the business kept going strong.

Gustav and Bertha's son, Eduard Paulig, became the managing director in 1919. He led the company until 1947. During Eduard Paulig's time, the company grew a lot. It became a very important company in Finland.

In October 2011, Paulig launched a special machine called Cupsolo. This machine uses small capsules to make different drinks. You could make popular Paulig coffees like Juhla Mokka and Presidentti. It also made Tazza cocoa, tea, and special coffees like cappuccino and espresso.

In September 2016, Paulig bought a company called Gold & Green Foods. This company makes food products that are alternatives to meat. This means they create plant-based foods that can be eaten instead of meat.

Paulig Around the World

After the Baltic states became independent from the Soviet Union in 1991, Paulig started working with other businesses there. Paulig began its operations in Saue, Estonia, in 1993. This helped the company grow its business outside of Finland.
