Paulo Garcés's Football Journey
Paulo Garcés started his professional football career in 2003. His first game was against Santiago Wanderers at the San Carlos de Apoquindo Stadium. Early in his career, he was loaned to other teams like Deportes Puerto Montt in 2004 and 2007 to gain more experience.
After playing for Deportes Puerto Montt, he was loaned to Lobos BUAP in Mexico. This was a new experience for him playing in a different country. Later, he returned to Chile and played for Everton de Viña del Mar. In 2009, he went back to his original club, Universidad Católica, hoping to become a regular starter.
Winning Championships
In 2013, Garcés achieved a big win with O'Higgins. They won the Apertura 2013–14 championship. He played 16 matches and was a very important player, especially in the final game against Universidad Católica. He made some amazing saves in the last few minutes to help his team win.
In 2014, his team also won the Supercopa de Chile. Paulo Garcés didn't play in that match because he was called to join the Chile national team. This shows he was recognized as one of the best goalkeepers in the country.
He also played in the 2014 Copa Libertadores, which is a big international club tournament in South America. His team, O'Higgins, played against teams like Deportivo Cali, Cerro Porteño, and Lanús. They finished third in their group and were eliminated from the tournament.
Recent Club Moves
In 2021, after playing a few games for San Luis de Quillota, a team in the Primera B league, he decided to leave. In the same year, he joined Deportes Valdivia in the Segunda División Profesional de Chile.
In January 2024, Deportes Linares announced that Garcés would be joining their team. However, just five days later, he changed his mind. He decided to stay with Deportes Valdivia instead. In June 2024, he made another move and joined Unión San Felipe, where he plays today.
