Pavel Golia (born April 10, 1887 – died August 15, 1959) was a famous Slovenian poet and playwright. He is especially known for his wonderful plays written for children.
His Life Story
Pavel Golia was born in Trebnje, Slovenia. His family was quite wealthy. From 1907 to 1915, he worked as an officer in the Austro-Hungarian Army. In 1918, he became a journalist in Moscow.
Later, Golia worked in theaters. He was a dramaturge or manager. A dramaturge helps theaters choose and put on plays. He worked at national theaters in Ljubljana, Osijek, and Belgrade. He spent many years at the Ljubljana theater. Pavel Golia passed away in Ljubljana.

Golia wrote many different kinds of works. He was a talented writer for both adults and children.
Poetry
Pavel Golia wrote poems for about 40 years. His first collection of poems was called Alkohol. It was written in 1908 and published in 1914. The feelings in his poetry were often light and not too serious. He was inspired by another poet, Oton Župančič. However, Golia developed his own special style of writing.
Plays for Children
Pavel Golia is highly praised for his plays. He is especially known for the plays he wrote for children. His first play for kids was Peterčkove poslednje sanje (Peter's Final Dreams). It was a Christmas story published in 1923.
