The Peña Falconera or Huevo de Morrano (which means 'Morrano Egg') is a cool rock formation. You can find it near the village of Morrano in the Huesca Province of Aragon, Spain.

This interesting rock is made mostly of a type of rock called conglomerate, which is like natural concrete made of pebbles and sand stuck together. Over time, wind and water have slowly worn it down, giving it its unique shape.

Peña Falconera is located inside the amazing Parque de la Sierra y Cañones de Guara (Sierra and Canyons of Guara Natural Park). It's very close to the Alcanadre River and a special spot called "fountain de la Tamara." Nearby, there's also a pine forest. The pine trees here are the most southerly ones you'll find in the entire natural park and in the region of Alto Aragon.

What's in a Name?

The people who live in Morrano have always called this rock "Peña Falconera." This name comes from a long-standing tradition that falcons used to be raised in this area. In the Aragonese language, "falcon" is the word for the bird. Even today, many locals still use the nickname "Falconero" for the rock.

A few years ago, when the natural park was created, the rock got a new name: "Huevo de Morrano," meaning 'Morrano Egg.' A park ranger came up with this name because of its shape. In Spanish, the rock is sometimes called "Alconera Peña," but this name isn't used as often. Another name you might hear is "Peña los Pacos."
