From Syria to Canada
The Hadhad family loved making chocolate. They started their chocolate business in 1986. Essam Hadhad opened a factory in Damascus, Syria. Their chocolates were very popular.
Sadly, their chocolate factory in Syria was destroyed. The family had to leave their home. They lived in Lebanon for three years. In 2016, they moved to Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada.
A New Beginning
When they arrived in Canada, the Hadhad family wanted to make chocolate again. Tareq Hadhad, Essam's son, started a new chocolate company. He called it "Peace by Chocolate."
The company quickly became well-known. It showed how new Canadians can bring great things to their new home.
Awards and Growth
In September 2020, Tareq Hadhad won a special award. It was a National Entrepreneurship Award. This award recognized his positive impact as a new Canadian. He was also named one of the Top 25 Canadian Immigrants of 2020.
On March 5, 2021, Peace by Chocolate opened a new store. This store is located along the busy Halifax Waterfront. It helps even more people enjoy their tasty chocolates.
