Pedraza is a town and a municipality in the Magdalena Department of Colombia. A municipality is like a local government area.

History of Pedraza
Pedraza was started in 1791 by a person named Pablo José Torregrosa. Later, on December 9, 1908, Pedraza officially became a municipality. This happened through a special government order called Executive Decree 1312.
Geography and Climate
The land in Pedraza is mostly flat. However, it does have some small hills. These hills can be as high as 120 meters (about 394 feet).
Waterways in Pedraza
Pedraza is located near several large marshes, which are called ciénagas in Spanish. These include the Ciénaga de Cocore, Ciénaga de La Brava, Ciénaga de La Palma, Ciénaga de Pajaral, Ciénaga de Pato, Ciénaga de Zapayan, Ciénaga de Zarzal, and Ciénaga de Molino.
Many streams also flow through the area. Some of these streams are Cerezos, Iguanera, Jeremías, La Soledad, Los Coquitos, and Patos.
Economy of Pedraza
The main way people in Pedraza make a living is through farming. They focus a lot on raising animals. These animals include cattle (cows), pork (pigs), equines (horses and donkeys), goats, and mules.
Growing crops is also a big part of their economy. They mostly grow yuca, corn, tomatoes, and beans. People also do fishing by hand in the many marshes and streams nearby.
