Pedro Pablo León García (born June 29, 1943 – died May 9, 2020) was a famous Peruvian football player. Many people knew him as Pedro "Perico" León. He was a talented forward who played for Peru's national team.
Pedro León's Football Journey
Pedro León played in 49 games for the Peru national football team. These games took place between 1963 and 1973. He was a key player in the 1970 FIFA World Cup. He played alongside other great Peruvian stars. These included Teófilo Cubillas, Roberto Challe, and Hugo Sotil.
At the club level, León spent most of his career with Alianza Lima in Peru. He also played for teams in other countries. He played for Barcelona SC in Ecuador. Later, he played for Deportivo Galicia in Venezuela.
Perico León was a very strong forward. He had amazing skills and could score goals well with his head. He was also good at creating plays for his teammates. This made him a very complete player. He could play as a midfielder or a forward. Many people think Pedro Pablo León is one of the best forwards in Peruvian football history.
Later in his life, he lived in Miami, Florida. He loved watching his grandson, Brian Jair León, play high school soccer. His grandson is also hoping to become a professional football player.
