Pedro Téllez-Girón (born July 29, 1537 – died September 13, 1590) was an important Spanish nobleman and leader. He was known as the 1st Duke of Osuna and the 5th Count of Ureña. He held many powerful positions during his life.

Early Life and Family
Pedro was born in a town called Osuna in Spain. His father was Juan Téllez-Girón, 4th Count of Ureña, and his mother was María de la Cueva y Toledo. Pedro took over his father's titles in 1558.
How Pedro Became a Duke
On February 5, 1562, King Philip II of Spain gave Pedro the special title of Duke of Osuna. This was a very high honor. He also received the title of Marquis of Peñafiel for his oldest sons to inherit.

Leading Naples
From 1582 to 1586, Pedro was the Viceroy of Naples. A Viceroy was like a governor who ruled a distant land for the king. Naples was a very important part of the Spanish kingdom at that time.

Pedro also worked as an Ambassador for Spain. He represented Spain in Portugal and at the Holy See, which is the government of the Catholic Church, where he met with Pope Sixtus V. An ambassador is like a country's representative in another country.

Besides his main titles, Pedro was also the lord of many towns and areas. These included Osuna, Peñafiel, Cazalla de la Sierra, el Arahal, Olvera, Archidona, Morón de la Frontera, Ortejícar, Briones, Tiedra, and Gumiel de Izán.

First Marriage
In 1552, when he was 15 years old, Pedro married Leonor Ana de Guzmán y Aragón. She was the daughter of the 6th Duke of Medina Sidonia. Leonor's name is connected to a famous nature reserve in Spain called the Coto de Doñana. Pedro and Leonor had eleven children together.
Second Marriage
After Leonor passed away, Pedro married his cousin, Isabel de la Cueva y Castilla, on February 2, 1575. They had two more children.
Notable Children
Some of Pedro's children from his first marriage include:
- María Tellez-Girón (1553–1608), who married the 5th Duke of Frías.
- Juan Tellez-Girón y Perez-Guzmán (1554–1600), who became the 2nd Duke of Osuna after his father.
- Ana Tellez-Girón (born 1558), who married the 4th Marquess of Tarifa.
It is also believed that Pedro had a son named Tirso de Molina, who became a famous writer of plays.
