Peers is a small, unincorporated community located in southern Warren County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. This community sits on the northern edge of the Missouri River floodplain, which is a flat area next to a river that can sometimes flood. Another community called Treloar is about four miles west of Peers, along Missouri Route 94.

How Peers Started

Peers officially began in 1892. This was when the railroad lines were built and extended to this specific spot. When a place is "platted," it means its streets and lots are officially mapped out for building.

A Post Office and a Name

A year after the railroad arrived, in 1893, a post office was opened in Peers. This post office served the community for many years, finally closing down in 1973. The community was named after Charles E. Peers. He was a "railroad promoter," meaning he was someone who helped organize and get support for building the railroad.
