Per "Pelle" Almqvist (born May 29, 1978) is a Swedish singer and songwriter. He is also known as Howlin' Pelle Almqvist. He is famous for being the lead singer of the garage rock band The Hives.
About Pelle Almqvist
Pelle Almqvist was born in Sweden. His father was a doctor and his mother was a teacher.
In 1993, Pelle and his brother Nicholaus Arson started their band, The Hives. Before the band became famous, Pelle worked as a postman. He also taught sixth grade.
Pelle is well-known for his exciting performances on stage. He is very energetic during live shows. His fun stage actions have even led Spin Magazine to call The Hives "The best live band in the world." The magazine also named Pelle one of the "50 Greatest Frontmen of All Time."
During concerts, Pelle often interacts with the crowd. He might climb on amps or other equipment. He also tells funny stories and jokes between songs.
In 2007, Pelle hosted the P3 Guld awards show for a Swedish radio station. In 2016, he presented Musikhjälpen, a charity event broadcast from Örebro.

Pelle Almqvist has worked with other musicians. He teamed up with Swedish rock artist Moneybrother. They covered a song called "Freeze Up" by the band Operation Ivy. They sang it in Swedish and called it "Jag skriver inte på nåt." This means "I Won't Sign Anything."
