Pemberton Place is a special area in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. It's located just north of Centennial Olympic Park. This complex is home to three exciting places: the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola, and the Center for Civil and Human Rights.

The area is named after John Pemberton. He was the person who invented Coca-Cola.

History of Pemberton Place

This area was once a busy part of Atlanta with many businesses and homes. By the early 1990s, it had become a less active part of the city.

The Coca-Cola Company bought land here for the 1996 Olympics. They built a place called Coca-Cola Olympic City for the event. In 2002, the company gave the land away. This allowed new visitor attractions to be built there.

Georgia Aquarium: An Ocean of Wonders

The Georgia Aquarium is one of the biggest aquariums in the world. It holds over 8.1 million US gallons (31,000 m3) of water. This huge amount of water is home to more than 100,000 animals. These animals belong to 500 different species.

Some of the most famous animals living here are two whale sharks, named Yushan and Taroko. There are also five beluga whales: Qinu, Whisper, Maple, Nunavik, and Shila. Shila was even born right at the aquarium in 2020! You can also see three amazing manta rays named Nandi, Tallulah, and Blue.

World of Coca-Cola: A Sweet History

The World of Coca-Cola is a fun place to visit. It shows the long history of the Coca-Cola Company. You can learn about its famous advertisements and see many interesting exhibits. It also has different entertainment areas and attractions for everyone to enjoy.

Center for Civil and Human Rights: Inspiring Change

The Center for Civil and Human Rights in downtown Atlanta connects two important ideas. It links the Civil Rights Movement in the United States to the larger global human rights movement. This center has four interactive exhibits.

One special gallery shows items from the Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr., Collection. Visitors can see personal papers and items that belonged to Dr. King. The center also hosts events and offers educational programs.
