The Pendleton Center for the Arts is a cool place where you can explore and create art! It's located in a really old building in Pendleton, Oregon, United States. This building used to be the Umatilla County Library, also known as the Pendleton Public Library.

What is the Pendleton Center for the Arts?

The Pendleton Center for the Arts is a special place for art and creativity. It offers galleries, studios, and classes. People of all ages can visit to see art, learn new skills, or enjoy live performances. It's a hub for the arts in the community.

The Historic Building's Story

The center is inside a building from 1915. It's located near the Umatilla River. This building was once a Carnegie library. These libraries were built with money from a rich businessman named Andrew Carnegie. He helped fund thousands of libraries across the country in the early 1900s.

The building is designed in the Italian Renaissance Revival style. This means it looks like old buildings from Italy. It served as a library for over 80 years, until 1996. In 1997, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This list includes important historical places in the United States.

After being a library for so long, the Arts Council of Pendleton decided to give the building a new life. They fixed it up and turned it into the amazing arts center you see today.
