History of Pennsbury Village

Pennsbury Village is special because it was built entirely as a community of condo-style homes. These homes were first built in 1973.

In 1976, the people of Pennsbury Village had a disagreement with the nearby Robinson Township. This disagreement was about fees for sewage treatment. Because of this, the residents decided they wanted to govern themselves.

In 1977, Pennsbury Village officially separated from Robinson Township. It became its own borough within Allegheny County. The people felt they could manage their own affairs better. They elected their first local council and a mayor in January 1977.
