Discover the Pensacola MESS Hall
The Pensacola MESS Hall is a special place where you can learn about science by doing experiments yourself. It's designed to make science interesting and easy to understand for everyone.
What Can You Do There?
The museum offers many ways to explore science:
- Mess Kits: These are like special science boxes. Each kit has all the materials you need to try out a science idea. You can explore different concepts at your own pace.
- Hands-On Activities: Besides the kits, there are many individual activities. These let you get hands-on with science and discover how things work.
Learning Beyond the Museum
The MESS Hall also provides special programs to help kids learn even more about science.
Classes and Camps
The MESS Hall offers fun classes and camps. These programs let you dive deeper into science topics. The camps have even won awards! In 2016, they received the "Best of the Bay" award from the Pensacola News Journal.
Workshops for Deeper Learning
Throughout the year, especially in the summer, the MESS Hall holds many workshops. These workshops explore science topics in more detail. You can learn about everything from fossils to "kitchen chemistry," which is like doing science experiments using things you find in your kitchen!
Reaching Out to the Community
The MESS Hall believes that science should be for everyone. They have special programs to bring science fun to more people.
MESS Hall Express
In 2014, the MESS Hall started an outreach program called "MESS Hall Express." This program takes science activities out of the museum and into the community. It helps more kids experience hands-on science.
Special Grants and Partnerships
In 2016, the MESS Hall Express program grew even bigger thanks to two important grants:
- Disney Creativity Garden Grant: This grant, supported by Disney and the Association of Science-Technology Centers, helped the MESS Hall visit a local school five times during the school year. They held "Tinker-Explore-Create" workshops for the students.
- GlaxoSmithKline Funding: Another grant from GlaxoSmithKline brought "Science in the Summer" programs to local libraries and community centers. This allowed even more children to enjoy science activities.
Supporting the MESS Hall
The Pensacola MESS Hall is a "501(c)3" organization. This means it's a non-profit group. It relies on donations and support from people and companies to help cover its costs.
Annual Fundraiser
To help raise money, the MESS Hall holds an annual event called "MESS Hall Goes Gourmet." This special fundraiser is supported by companies like Gulf Power. It helps the museum continue to offer amazing science experiences for kids.
