Penwood State Park is a fun place for everyone to visit! It's a public park located on Talcott Mountain in Bloomfield, Connecticut. This park is quite large, covering about 787 acres.

It connects right to the northern part of Talcott Mountain State Park. Both parks are looked after by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. They make sure the parks stay beautiful and safe for visitors.

Park History

Penwood State Park was given to the state in 1944. A man named Curtis H. Veeder donated it. He was a smart inventor and a person who loved being outdoors.

Curtis Veeder wanted the park to stay natural. He hoped that people who love nature would enjoy it, just like he did. He even made many of the first trails in the park himself.

Lake Louise

There is a beautiful spot in the park called Lake Louise. It's a special kind of pond called a kettle bog found on top of the ridge. This lake was named after Curtis Veeder's wife, Louise.
