The Peperami Animal Mascot
The "Animal" is the famous cartoon character for Peperami. It has been the face of the brand since the early 1990s. This funny sausage stick character was first seen in a TV ad in 1993. The ad used the catchy phrase, "Peperami, it's a bit of an animal!"
In 1996, a computer game called Animal was even released. The Animal character was first voiced by comedian Adrian Edmondson. It was animated using stop-motion, where objects are moved slightly between photos to create movement.
The Animal mascot was in ads from 1993 to 2014. In 2015, the Animal returned to TV. This time, it was made with computer-generated imagery (CGI), which looks more modern.
New Animal Characters
In 2017, a new version of the Animal character appeared. This one was called "Beef Animal." It was created to introduce the new beef Peperami snack. Beef Animal first showed up in ads in 2018. When the Chicken Bites were launched, a "Chicken Animal" character was also introduced.
Peperami Advertising
Peperami has done many campaigns and partnerships to bring the Animal character back into the spotlight.
For example, in 2016, Peperami worked with The Angry Birds film. In 2018, they partnered with Merlin Entertainments, which owns theme parks like Thorpe Park and Alton Towers. The brand has also done fun stunts to get media attention for its pork and beef mascots.
Most recently in 2018, Peperami launched a campaign called "Brothers From Another Mother." This campaign showed the Original Animal and the Beef Animal together in ads for the first time.
How Peperami is Made
In 2003, Peperami wanted to make its snacks healthier. The company worked to change the recipe. They aimed to reduce the amount of fat, saturated fat, and salt in Peperami. This helped the snack appeal to people who were more focused on healthy eating.
