History of Peperami
Peperami used to be owned by a big company called Unilever. Unilever decided that selling meat snacks didn't quite fit with their other products.
So, in 2014, Unilever sold its meat snack business to Jack Link's. This sale included both the Peperami brand and another similar snack called BiFi. Jack Link's now makes and sells Peperami in the UK, Mexico, and Ireland.

The Peperami Animal Mascot
The "Animal" is a famous cartoon character that has been the face of Peperami since the early 1990s. This character is an animated sausage stick that acts like a wild animal!
The Animal mascot was first shown in a TV advertisement in 1993. The ad used the catchy phrase, "Peperami, it's a bit of an animal!"
The comedian Adrian Edmondson was the original voice of the Animal. The early cartoons were made using stop-motion animation. The Animal was a regular part of Peperami's advertising until 2014.
In 1996, a computer game called Animal was even released. The mascot returned to TV in 2015, this time as a computer-generated (CGI) character.
In 2017, a new version of the character, called "Beef Animal," was introduced. This character helped announce the new beef Peperami snack. Beef Animal first appeared in ads in 2018. When the Chicken Bites came out, a "Chicken Animal" character was also created.
Peperami Advertising Campaigns
In recent years, Peperami has worked on new advertising campaigns to bring the Animal mascot back into the spotlight.
In 2016, Peperami partnered with The Angry Birds film. This was a fun way to connect with kids and teens.
In 2018, they teamed up with Merlin Entertainments, which owns popular theme parks like Thorpe Park and Alton Towers. This allowed Peperami to promote its snacks at these exciting locations.
More recently in 2018, Peperami launched a campaign called "Brothers From Another Mother." This campaign featured both the Original Animal and the Beef Animal together in ads for the first time.
Healthier Peperami
In 2003, Peperami wanted to make its snacks a bit healthier. They changed the recipe to reduce the amount of fat, saturated fat, and salt. This was done to appeal to people who were more aware of healthy eating.
