Where is Pernitas Point Located?
Pernitas Point is found in the southern part of Texas. It sits on a piece of land that reaches out into Lake Corpus Christi. This lake is actually a reservoir, which is a large, artificial lake used to store water. It was created from the Nueces River.
The community is located in the very southeastern corner of Live Oak County. It also touches the northeastern corner of Jim Wells County. In 2000, the total area of Pernitas Point was about 0.6 square miles (1.4 square kilometers), and all of it was land.
Who Lives in Pernitas Point?
In 2000, there were 269 people living in Pernitas Point. These people lived in 121 different homes, and 87 of those were families. On average, about 485 people lived in each square mile of the community.
Most of the people living there, about 96.65%, were White. A small number were African American (0.74%) or Asian (0.37%). About 2.23% of residents identified with two or more races. Also, about 14.50% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
