Discovering the World of Petals
The show is all about five tiny characters called Petals. They live in a big, wild garden. The Petals are named Bougie, Boronia, Poppy, Notsy, and Imp. Every day, they wake up ready to explore. Their adventures happen among giant flowers and tall trees. They are very small, almost like tiny people you can only imagine.
The Petals are not fairies and do not have magic powers. But they are very good at moving around! Only Bougie and Poppy can fly. They find many exciting things and go on fun adventures. For example, they help a baby bird or pick berries. They also help Imp turn off a dripping tap. Sometimes they play hide-and-seek or make bubbles with soap. Imp even rescued Notsy once using fireflies when she got lost. They used a broken mirror to scare Jeffrey, a playful orange cat. They also put on a show to cheer up Worm when he had a kink in his tail.
Friends in the Garden
The Petals are not alone in their adventures. They have five insect friends who join them. These friends are Cicada, Ant, Spider, Worm, and Ladybird. There is also Jeffrey, the orange cat. Jeffrey likes to hang out in the garden and sometimes causes trouble for the Petals.

The Petals Website
In 1999, the ABC launched a website for Petals. It had pictures of the characters and some of their famous sayings. There were also two online games: a jigsaw puzzle and a coloring game. You could even print out pictures to color! The website also featured other ABC kids' shows like Bananas in Pyjamas and Play School. The games used a special program called Adobe Shockwave. The Petals show information was removed from the ABC website around September 2010. This happened when the new ABC For Kids website was launched.
You can still find a short video clip of the show on the official ABC Commercial website.

It was also developed with help from Film Victoria and Screen Australia. Southern Star Entertainment produced the show.
