Life and Career
Pete Chatmon studied filmmaking at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. His movies have been shown at more than 25 film festivals around the world. One of these is the famous Sundance Film Festival.
Some of his early short films include 3D, Chameleon, and Confessions of Cool. He is most famous for writing, producing, and directing the independent movie Premium. An independent film is made outside of the big Hollywood studios. This movie starred actors like Zoe Saldana and Hill Harper.
Premium was nominated for a Black Reel Award in 2007. This award celebrates Black artists in film. The movie also won an award at the Urbanworld Film Festival and the Bahamas International Film Festival.
Pete Chatmon also directed a documentary film called 761st. This film is about the 761st Tank Battalion, a historic military group. The famous actor Andre Braugher narrated the film. Pete is also working on new movie ideas, including What About Us? and The 4th.
In May 2019, Pete Chatmon married Kelly McCreary. She is an actress known for her role in the TV show Grey's Anatomy.
