Kelly J. McCreary (born September 29, 1981) is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Dr. Maggie Pierce on the TV show Grey's Anatomy. Maggie Pierce is the half-sister of the main character, Meredith Grey. Kelly joined the show in its tenth season and became a regular cast member in the eleventh season. She also played Maggie Pierce in the spin-off series Station 19.
Kelly McCreary started her acting career in theater. She even performed on Broadway. She also did voice work for children's animated shows. Later, she appeared in TV series like White Collar and Scandal. She was also a regular on the medical drama Emily Owens, M.D.

About Kelly McCreary's Early Life and Education
Kelly McCreary was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on September 29, 1981. Her parents are Mary and Geoffrey McCreary. She has two sisters and one brother. Kelly became interested in acting when she was in fourth grade. She went to schools that focused on the arts.
She first performed on stage in a musical when she was in sixth grade. At age 17, she moved to New York City. There, she studied acting at Barnard College. She performed in many plays there. She also spent a semester studying drama in London. Kelly graduated from Barnard College in 2003.

She also had a role on the TV series White Collar. In 2010, she starred in the musical comedy Perfect Harmony. Her first film role was in Being Flynn in 2011.
In 2012, she got a big role in Emily Owens, M.D.. She played Tyra Dupre, a first-year surgical intern. The show was cancelled after one season. Kelly also appeared in films like Life, where she played Eartha Kitt.

In 2014, Kelly McCreary joined the TV show Grey's Anatomy. She first appeared in the tenth season. She played Dr. Maggie Pierce. Maggie is the half-sister of the main character, Meredith Grey. Kelly became a regular cast member in October 2014.
She also played Dr. Maggie Pierce in the spin-off show Station 19. She appeared in several crossover episodes between the two series.
During a break from Grey's Anatomy in 2017, Kelly performed in a play. It was called Intimate Apparel. In 2018, she voiced the character Dot in the Netflix animated series Harvey Street Kids. This show later became Harvey Girls Forever!.
In March 2023, it was announced that Kelly McCreary would be leaving Grey's Anatomy as a regular cast member. Her last regular appearance was in April 2023. She also appeared in the final episode of the nineteenth season.
Kelly McCreary's Personal Life
Kelly McCreary lives in Los Angeles, California. She is involved in community work. She helped start the Jaradoa Theater Company. This group works to help the community through theater. She is also part of other theater groups.
In 2015, she joined the board of directors for the Equal Justice Society. This group works for equal justice for everyone. In 2018, Kelly was an ambassador for Michelle Obama's When We All Vote campaign. This campaign encouraged people to register and vote.
In January 2019, Kelly McCreary announced her engagement to director Pete Chatmon. They met on the set of Grey's Anatomy. They got married on May 4, 2019. On August 16, 2021, Kelly and Pete shared that they were expecting a baby. Their daughter was born on October 3, 2021.
