Chief Pete Edochie, MON i// (born March 7, 1947) is a very famous Nigerian actor. Many people think he is one of Nigeria's most talented actors. He has received special awards like the Industry Merit Award from Africa Magic and a Lifetime Achievement award from the Africa Film Academy. Before acting, he worked as an administrator and broadcaster. He became well-known in the 1980s when he played the main character, 'Okonkwo,' in a TV show based on Chinua Achebe’s famous book, Things Fall Apart. Pete Edochie is from the Igbo people of Nigeria and is a Catholic. In 2003, the President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, honored him as a Member of the Order of the Niger.

Early Life and School
Pete Edochie was born in a city called Zaria, in Kaduna State, Nigeria. His birthday is March 7, 1947.
He went to St. Patrick's and St. James Primary School in Zaria for his early education. Then, he attended St. John's College for his high school studies. He also studied journalism and television in England.
Pete Edochie's Career Journey
Pete Edochie started working in radio in 1967 when he was 20 years old. He began as a junior assistant for programs and later became a director. He was in charge of programs and sometimes even acted as the Deputy Managing Director. He left the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) because of changes in how the government managed the radio station.
Before leaving, he had already acted in Things Fall Apart. His role in this TV show was so good that he won an international award. The BBC (a big news company from the UK) even came to Nigeria to interview him about his acting in Things Fall Apart. After leaving radio, he fully joined the movie industry.
In September 2017, Pete Edochie supported the Wikimedia movement in Nigeria. He appeared in a video to help more older people learn about and use Wikipedia.
Family Life
Pete Edochie is married to Josephine Edochie. They have six children together. Two of his sons, Linc Edochie and Yul Edochie, are also actors.

Pete Edochie has received many awards for his acting. In 2020, he was honored with the African Film Legend award at the African Film Festival (TAFF). This award recognized his long and successful career in African cinema.
