Pete Lucas Nance, born on February 19, 2000, is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Milwaukee Bucks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He also plays for the Wisconsin Herd in the NBA G League as part of a special "two-way contract." Before turning pro, Pete played college basketball for the Northwestern Wildcats and the North Carolina Tar Heels. He also had short stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA.

High School Basketball Journey
Pete Nance played high school basketball at Revere High School. In his final year, he was 6 feet 10 inches (2.08 m) tall and weighed 205 pounds (93 kg). That year, Pete helped Revere win its first district championship. He was also named the Ohio Division II Player of the Year.
On June 29, 2017, Pete decided to play for the Northwestern Wildcats men's basketball team. He chose Northwestern over offers from other big schools like the University of Michigan and Ohio State University. Pete was considered a top player, known as a four-star recruit. He was the highest-ranked player to ever join the Northwestern basketball program at that time.
College Basketball Career
Playing for Northwestern
Pete Nance started his college career at Northwestern. In his first exhibition game, he scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. In his first official college game, he scored three points. Pete earned his first starting spot in a game against the Michigan Wolverines.
As a sophomore, he averaged 8.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. In his junior year, Pete improved, averaging 11.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. During his senior season, Pete averaged 14.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. After his senior year, he thought about joining the 2022 NBA draft. However, he decided to play one more year of college basketball and transferred to North Carolina.
Playing for North Carolina
Pete joined the North Carolina Tar Heels for his fifth year of college basketball. He was able to play an extra year because of a special rule from the NCAA. This rule was made due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected sports seasons.
Pete immediately became a starter for the Tar Heels. He played in 30 games and started all of them. He averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds per game. He shot 42% from the field during his time at North Carolina.
Professional Basketball Career
Starting with the Cavaliers and Charge
After college, Pete Nance was not chosen in the 2023 NBA draft. However, he joined the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2023 NBA Summer League. In September 2023, he signed a contract with the Cavaliers. He was later waived, but then joined the Cleveland Charge in the NBA G League.
On January 18, 2024, Pete signed a 10-day contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. This was special because his father, Larry Nance, and his brother, Larry Nance Jr., also played for the Cavaliers. After his 10-day contract, he returned to the Cleveland Charge. On February 19, 2024, he signed a "two-way contract" with the Cavaliers. This type of contract allows a player to play for both an NBA team and its G League affiliate.
In September 2024, Pete signed another contract with the Cavaliers but was waived again in October. He then rejoined the Cleveland Charge.
Time with the 76ers and Return to Charge
On December 3, 2024, Pete Nance signed a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. He played for them and their G League team, the Delaware Blue Coats. However, he was waived by the 76ers on January 7, 2025. Just three days later, Pete returned to the Cleveland Charge. He signed another two-way contract with Philadelphia on January 14, 2025. He was waived by the 76ers again on February 6, 2025.
Joining the Milwaukee Bucks
On February 28, 2025, Pete Nance signed a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. He continues to play for the Bucks and their G League team, the Wisconsin Herd.
