Richfield is a small community called a village in Summit County, Ohio, United States. In 2020, about 3,729 people lived there. Richfield is located right between the cities of Akron and Cleveland. It is part of the larger Akron city area.

History of Richfield
Richfield was started in 1809. It officially became a village in 1967. The area was named "Richfield" because its soil was very fertile and good for farming.
Richfield as a "World City"
In 1970, the mayor of Richfield, Kenneth Swan, made a special rule. This rule declared Richfield Village the first "world city" in the United States. This idea was about promoting understanding and peace between people from different countries.
Richfield and Basketball
From 1974 to 1994, Richfield was home to the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team. They played their games at a large arena called the Coliseum at Richfield.
