About Peter Behrens
Peter Behrens was adopted by the Behrens family and grew up in northern Germany. After finishing high school, he went to college but left soon after.
Peter loved music and played drums in many bands. He toured all over northern Germany and even in Africa for six months! In 1971, he was part of a band called Silberbart. They made an album of rock music that many collectors still love today. Later, in the late 1970s, he went to a circus school in Milan. He even worked for a short time as a clown and a pantomime artist.
Joining the Band Trio
In the early 1980s, Peter Behrens joined the German band Trio. He played the drums alongside Stephan Remmler and Gert "Kralle" Krawinkel. The band became very famous, especially for their simple but catchy song Da Da Da. This song was a big part of the music style known as the New German Wave. Peter met the other two band members through a newspaper advertisement.
Peter Behrens had a very unique look on stage. He often wore a white T-shirt, white pants, red suspenders, and red shoes. His hair was styled in a fun, upward curl. He had this look even before he went to clown school and joined Trio. When he played the drums, he stood very still with a serious face. This special style made the band even more memorable.
Later Career and Life
As a solo artist, Peter Behrens released some songs. These included "Das Tor," which was the official song for the European Football Championship in 1988. He also made a cover song of "Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega.
In the late 1980s, Peter Behrens also appeared in a few movies. He had bigger roles in films like Andre Handles Them All and Drei gegen Drei. In 2005 and 2006, he performed in a musical in Hamburg with Frl. Menke. After the musical, he went back to playing drums in a band. In 2008, he released a song called "drei zwei" with a group called Peter Behrens (Ex-Trio) & Drei Mann im Doppelbett. A music video was made for this song. There is also a music video from 2014 called "Goldene Zeiten" (Golden Times) where Peter Behrens appears as a clown.
Peter Behrens had two children. He lived in Wilhelmshaven, where he passed away on May 11, 2016, at the age of 68.
